Letter To Santa

 Dear Santa,

I have been very naughty throughout this year and have not been my best. I have not listened to my Mum and Dad, especially to my teachers. I have also been lazy talking to my friends on the mat while the teacher is trying to teach us. I have also not been nice to others,

Santa I will promise you that I will never do these things I have done wrong again. I would really like some new shoes for Christmas. I will never do these bad things ever again.

Love From,

Lyrissa

Koru Art

Pastel and Dye Koru Art

Your photograph go

What have you accomplished?

I have accomplished finishing my Koru art. Firstly by drawing the korus, then colouring the korus with crayons, and then dyeing the paper, and lastly cutting and pasting to make the black korus.

What did you find challenging?

My first challenge was to draw the korus. I found it challenging because when I drew the korus, I didn’t really think that it looked that nice, and I did not like how I drew it.

My second challenge was glueing on the black korus, because whenever I glued it on the PVA glue was always going everywhere and was very messy.

Who helped you with your artwork?

Miss Mia and Miss Paton helped me with my work. Miss Paton helped me draw the korus and Miss Mia drew the black korus for me to cut.

What are you most pleased with?

With how I drew the korus, and when I glued the black korus on my art work.

What would you do differently?

I wouldn’t do anything diffrently because I liked the way it looked in the end.

The Agressive Dog

 Characters

Dog-Jordan

Friend-Elija

Girl-Skyler

Mum-Victor

Old lady-Sophie

One day Skyler went to her friend Elija’s house to play. Elija didn't want to  play outside with Skyler but his mum said, ¨Elija go and play with Skyler, it will be good¨. So Elija went to go and play with Skyler outside.

Elija took Skyler to the nearest forest, in his backyard. Skyler said, ¨Let's play hide and seek¨.

Elija wasn't too excited but then he remembered his mother had told him to play with Skyler. “You are counting Skyler¨, Elija yelled out. Skyler didn't want to count so they did rock, paper, scissors, to make it fair.

¨Rock Papers Scissors Shoot!¨ they both said but Elija lost the round. So he had to count behind a tree for one minute. Skyler found a huge tree and hid behind that so Elija wouldn't see her. But while she was hiding from Elija, Skyler saw a dog and started to scream. It started to chase her. She had a fear of dogs.

When Elija heard Skyler scream, Elija went to go find her. When he found her, Skyler hid behind Elija. Elija knew that the dog, Jordan, was mad at Skyler for screaming at him. Elija started to try and calm the dog down. His aunty has a dog, and he learnt how to calm them because his aunty’s dog used to be aggressive as well.

So Elija found one of his dirty small tennis balls that he had lost a month ago,  and played catch with the dog. Then, Jordan led Elija to his owner. Skyler joined them but stayed behind Elija. They made it to a little cottage in the forest and met an old lady named Sophie. She offered Elija and Skyler some cookies. Of course, they said yes because they were very hungry from playing with the dog.

Sophie said, ¨thank-you and good job for getting my dog to calm down. He usually never likes strangers!”

Cinderella Narrative Retelling

Once upon a time there was a young girl and her parents that lived happily. one day her mother was very sick and died a few days later. A few years later her father had married another woman named Lady Treiman but she treated Ella like a maid. She was very cruel and selfish like her daughters. Anastasia and Druzilla would pick their noses secretly and were alo cruel and selfish. Ella's stepsisters mocked her and said “You always look like you're covered in ash”. They started to call Ella, Cinderella. One morning they were sent an invitation from the King and the Prince. They're going to be having a ball for the Prince and so the Prince could find a wife.Cinderella was very sad that she couldn’t go to the ball, because she had asked her step mother if she could go. The StepMother said “No”. because she had to clean the kitchen and the rooms. Cinderella knew she wouldn’t have enough time to finish cleaning to go to the ball and said.¨It will take a week”. The mice and the birds then started to help her because they felt sorry for Cinderella. So when they were done Cinderella asked again and said “I'm finished”. Her Stepmother said ¨Nobody wouldn’t want to look at you¨.

¨You are so dirty and smelly¨. She ran to  the garden and started crying. The Fairy Godmother waved her magic wand when Cinderella was outside. The Fairy Godmother had appeared and said

“You are going to the ball”.

Cinderella said “What am I going to wear?”. so the Fairy Godmother waved her magic wand and a pretty blue dress appeared on Cinderella with her glass slippers. A pumpkin carriage appeared. The rats were the coach men. The Fairy Godmother said ¨Be sure to leave the ball before 12AM or the spell will not work any more. So she went to the ball and the Prince saw Cinderella. He couldn't take his eyes off her. The Prince asked Cinderella for a dance. They had danced but forgot about the time. She ran to her carriage and the Prince was following her. Cinderella was already gone. The Prince saw one of Cinderella's glass slippers. Cinderella had made it home and was in her room. The Prince and Cinderella lived happily ever after. The Prince “said to go to all the girls in this village and  look for who can fit the shoe. It” came to Cinderella's house but first her sisters had to try it. Anastasia and Drizella both tried it but their foot could not fit the shoe. The Prince had asked if there were any other women here and Lady Treman said “We only have a kitchen maid and that's it”. So the prince went to her to try the slipper on her. She slowly put the glass slipper on her foot and it fitted. The Prince married Cinderella.

Watercare Recount

Hook

“Yay” I was so excited that Sarah, a member from Watercare, was coming to us and show our class how to save water, look after the drains, and explore toilet systems used in the olden days.

Orientation

Miss Paton told us to sit on the mat and wait for Sarah to come. We were waiting for Sarah. Miss Paton told us to get with a partner and share ways how you can save water. When we were in the middle of talking Sarah came and connected her thing to Miss Paton’s laptop.

Finally Sarrah was ready. She showed us photos of what people used as a toilet in the olden days  Some people used chamber pots when they went to hotels. The chamber pots go under their bed and they pull it out to go to the toilet in the hotel. Then when they are done the chambermaids take their waste and chuck it in the river. I would hate that to happen to me now that I am in the present and we use real toilets.

Next thing  in the olden days Sarrah told us that they also used buckets to go to the toilet. At night when there were men taking the buckets  they were supposed to take the bucket somewhere else but they were too lazy so they chucked it a field next to homes.

After this Sarah told us how they treat the water for us to drink. First the waste water goes inside this big circle thing. There are little bugs that go in the water and eat all the germs inside the water. The little bugs think it is yummy for them. The little bug doesn’t eat all of the germs so it goes in this dark room with a lot of lights. The lights heat up all the germs and burns the germs.  Sarah also said they don’t put any chemicals in the water.

Then Sarah told us how they treat the 1’s and 2’s water. It is not that much but I will tell you.  First they go in this spinning thing and it spins it into little rocks they use the little rocks to now build something. I am not really sure what it is called.

Next Sarah said to get in groups of eight so we lined up outside in our group. Sarh gave us a black board, white rocks, a see through plastic sheet and a watering can. She said to make mountains out of them. My group made four. We had to pour the water in the middle of the mountains and see how many rivers it makes. My group made four rivers and then we had to do it with the rest of the other groups. Some groups made three, five and I think even six rivers.

Conclusion

When we were done, we had to go back inside and Sarah was going to tell us what not to put down the drain. Sarah had five cups of water so she could put the things in the cups that you can’t put down the drain. She first told us not to put engine oil inside the drain because it has chemicals and you don’t want the chemicals to go down the drain. Next Sarah mixed dish washing liquid with the water inside one of the six bottles. Then she shook it, it was all bubbly.  The third thing she showed us was oil mixed with water and then she shook it. It turned light yellow and then it got blurry. Then she moved onto the fourth bottle with the water in it. She put red paint in it and then shook it. The water with the red paint got all red when she shook it. The last and final thing she did was put all her food scraps inside the water. She shook them and it was all gross. I didn't even want to look at it. The bread turned  soggy.

When Sarah was done, she had to go back home because it was the end of the day. We also asked some questions at the end. I enjoyed the lesson. It was fun learning about the treatment of water and how to save it.
