Treaty of Waitangi Information Report

A treaty is a formally written document / contact.
The Treaty of Waitangi was signed on 6th February 1840.
40 Maori chiefs signed the treaty as well as European
British settlers. At the end of 1840, 500 hundred Maori
people signed the Treaty. Some Maori used their
moko as a signature. Thirteen women signed the treaty.
William Hobson helped write the Treaty of Waitangi,
Missionaries Henry William and his son Edward helped
translate the treaty in Maori. There were debates about
that the Maori and English were different but Hone Heke
Pokai and Tamati Waka Nene said it was a good idea.
